Could This Be The Simplest Natural Way To Lose Weight?
In his book “I can Make You Thin” Paul McKenna presents a weight loss program that is based on banishing any diets and relying more on the relationship between your mind and your body.
It is not a diet. Indeed one of the central principals of this weight loss program is that you stop dieting. It is not a fitness regime; there is not point at which it advocates any type of workout as part of the program. And, no, it is not the latest surgical technique, nor a wonder drug that you can take to automatically burn the fat out of your body.
The principals advocated by Paul McKenna for rapid and phenomenal weight loss are based on the premise that all you need to do is understand a number of key things about the way your body is programmed to relate to food intake, and to apply a few simple changes in your approach to food.
Programming Your Mind To Eat Right
“I can reprogram your mind,” says Paul, in another of his usual bold statements. He should know. Paul McKenna is an exceptionally accomplished Neuro-linguistic expert. Having started out as a radio DJ in the 80’s, his big break didn’t come until the mid 90’s when he had a multi-million following on his hugely successful show, “The Hypnotic World of Paul McKenna.” It was while he was doing hypnotic tricks on TV that Paul began to realize that the power of hypnosis could be used to benefit people in their daily lives. What followed after was an unprecedented development of the wellness industry, and a very successful published authorship.
Having said that, losing weight the way Paul describes is not based on hypnotising yourself not to eat. Instead, he suggests that you develop the right approaches to food and to eating.
Losing Weight In 4 Simple Steps
The core of “I Can Make You Thin” can be summarised in 4 amazingly simple steps.
- When you are hungry, eat.
- Eat what you want to eat, not what you should.
- Eat consciously, paying full attention to the food, its taste and to taking longer to chew (at least 20 chews!).
- When you are full, stop eating.
A Weight Loss Program Like No Other
This is clearly a novel approach to weight loss. There is hardly any other weight loss plan out there that will positively encourage you to each all your favourite foods and not feel guilty about it. Indeed, many diets are based around teaching you the right kinds of foods to eat, and what not to eat.
The mind programming elements of the program are all designed to help you with each of the 4 steps. They are based on Paul’s belief that many people who are trying to lose weight make a number of cardinal mistakes:
- They starve themselves, which resets the body’s metabolism to a lower level, making it harder to burn carbohydrates when they do eat.
- They pay far too much attention to trying to eat the right thing, rather than eating the right way. The accompanying guilt doesn’t help their quest.
- They eat with their attention focussed on other things than the food itself; TV, reading, and talking, for example.
- They do not recognise their body’s signal that it is full, and so tend to eat far more than necessary.
A Simple Way To Lose Weight
A number of people have claimed success with Paul’s revolutionary method. As an approach to weight loss, there is no doubt it is unlike any other out there. What better weight loss program than one which encourages you to eat what you want? Obviously, there is some discipline required, not to mention the need to learn to apply what are in fact psychological techniques. But even in light of that, weight loss could not be made much simpler.
